Using Your @csit Email from Off Campus

SCS email supports smtp authentication. This means you can configure your outgoing mail server to 'smtp.csit.fsu.edu' and use it from most remote networks.

Not every network will allow non-native smtp traffic (port 25). If you are unable to send email on a remote network with your outgoing mail server set to 'smtp.csit.fsu.edu', try running the SCS VPN. The VPN sends the outgoing mail over an encrypted channel, which usually is not blocked by standard network security practices. If you are still having problems sending email, you can also try using the SCS web mail interface https://email.csit.fsu.edu/imp/.

Still another alternative is to obtain the name of the outgoing mail server for the network you are connected to (contact the local systems admin), and set it as your outgoing mailserver under your mail client settings (see Email for details).
