SCS VisLab:

Are there backups?

There are no backups. Users have access to scratch1/ and scratch2/ partitions in their home directory for the storage of data files and other files related to their visualization work. These files might be delete if disk storage becomes an issue. At present there is approximately 7 Terabyte of aggregate storage in under these directories. Any small files that require backup should be stored under fshome/, also in the home directory.

Can I get an account?

If you wish to get an account to the Vis Lab, simply send an email to erlebach@scs.fsu.edu (Vis Lab director) and the request will be forwarded. If you don't hear from him within 24 hours, simply send another email. Sometimes emails mistakenly get categorized as spam or junk frown We would be interested in knowing how you plan on using the lab for your research.

How to contribute to the Vis Lab?

It would be great if users could maintain a web page with images produced on the Vis Lab machines. We look forward to collecting once or twice a year images produced during your research for the creation of posters and other publicity material. Articles published in the SCS newsletter with credit given to the Vis Lab are also welcome.
