The Tempest cluster was funded by Sun Microsystems through an Academic Excellence Grant obtained by members of the Technical Support Group and has been a general resource for members of the SCS community.

The current hardware configuration consists of the following:

• 2 nodes configured with:
  • 4 Gigabytes of RAM
  • 4 Sun UltraSPARC-IIIi 1.2GHz RISC Processors
  • SCS Home directories available through the SCS File Server
  • Scratch space available through the SCS File Server
• 8 nodes configured with:
  • 2 Gigabytes of RAM
  • 2 Sun UltraSPARC-IIIi 1.2GHz RISC Processors
  • SCS Home directories available through the SCS File Server
  • Scratch space available through the SCS File Server
