Mendel is now retired! Its functions have been ported to the new FSU HPC.

Mendel was a dedicated bioinformatics server managed by SCS for the FSU biosciences community.

The hardware configuration consisted of the following:

• Dell PowerEdge 6650 Server with
• 8 GB of RAM
• Quad Intel Xeon 1.6 GHz cpu's on one motherboard
• RAID 5 disk array with 44 GB of storage for home directories and
• 763 GB of storage for biosequence databases and program suites
• Dual Gigabit Ethernet interface

The operating system was:

• Redhat Enterprise Linux 4.3
• Kernel Version: Final 2.6.9-34.ELsmp i686
