Resources Overview

Located on the fourth floor of the Dirac Science Library on the main campus of FSU, the SCS is home to a collection of material and personnel resources. A description of these resources is given in the boxes below and you can read more about each of these areas by clicking on the details link or on the corresponding link in the left-hand menu.

Facilities

The SCS hosts a state of the art computer classroom, a large seminar room, and several smaller conference rooms. Use of these facilities requires advance reservations and SCS faculty and staff are generally given priority access. Computing

SCS maintains a large and diverse computing infrastructure in support of research and education. Computing resources at SCS include two large supercomputers, a number of clusters and computational servers, a laboratory for scientific visualization, a bioinformatics server, and more. While many of the SCS computing resources are dedicated to specific research areas, an increasing number of machines are being made available to the University research community in general through the use of high throughput management tools and job schedulers. Tech Support

SCS offers a wide range of training opportunities in support of computational research, from DNA sequence retrieval to parallel programming. In addition, SCS maintains and supports an extensive infrastructure for high throughput computing and network services, while also providing basic computer support to faculty, students, staff, and our SCS affiliates.
